Description | NGC 1333 is a reflection nebula located in the northern constellation of Perseus, close to the southern borders of the constellations Taurus and Aries. It was first discovered in 1855 by German astronomer Eduard Schönfeld. The nebula appears as a hazy patch when viewed through a small telescope, while larger telescopes reveal a pair of dark nebulae known as Barnard 1 and Barnard 2. This nebula is associated with a dark cloud designated Barnard 205. Estimates of the distance to this nebula range from 980 to 1,140 light-years (300 to 350 parsecs). |
