NGC1499 California Nebula

Description

The California Nebula, also known as Sh2-220, is an emission nebula located in the constellation Perseus. Its name derives from its resemblance to the shape of the U.S. state of California in long-exposure photographs. Interestingly, the California Nebula transits at the zenith in central California, as the latitude aligns with the nebula’s declination.
