NGC 6188 Fighting Dragons of Ara Nebula,
Description |
The Firebird Nebula, also known as NGC 6188, is an emission nebula located in the constellation Ara. The bright open cluster NGC 6193, which is visible to the naked eye, contributes to a region of reflection nebulosity within NGC 6188. Astrophotography of this nebula is often captured using narrowband techniques and the Hubble palette (SHO). NGC 6188 is a star-forming nebula sculpted by the massive, young stars that have recently formed there, some of which are only a few million years old. This burst of star formation was likely triggered by the supernova explosions of the last generation of stars. |
