NGC 2359 Thor’s Helmet Nebula,
Description | Thor’s Helmet (also known as NGC 2359) is an emission nebula located in the constellation Canis Major. The central star of the nebula is the Wolf-Rayet star WR7, an extremely hot star that is believed to be in a short-lived pre-supernova stage of evolution. Thor’s Helmet bears similarities to the Bubble Nebula; however, interactions with a nearby large molecular cloud are thought to have contributed to its more complex shape and distinctive curved bow-shock structure. |
