CG 4 God’s Hand Nebula
Description | CG 4, commonly known as God’s Hand, is a star-forming region located in the Puppis constellation. This region is classified as a “cometary globule” due to its shape resembling that of a comet. CG 4 features a dense head composed of gas and dust, measuring about 1.5 light-years (0.46 parsecs) in diameter, along with an elongated, faint tail that extends roughly 8 light-years (2.5 parsecs) in length. Both CG 4 and the nearby cometary globules generally point away from the Vela Supernova Remnant, which is situated at the center of the Gum Nebula. |
